Exploration of Themes

These are two different recorded examples of a composition I wrote alongside a 3 minute excerpt of film. The film clip was the opening scene from the moving Japanese animated film ‘Grave of the Fireflies’, which after seeing I could’t get out of my head. This piano piece explores the two different motifs of the brother and sister characters, and how they intertwine with one another, moving from life to the spirit world. An expression of the need to stick together and rely on each other through hardship.
